On Cloudy Minds
Depression is a tough nut to crack and it’s no summer shower. This mental affliction is the perpetual cloud that hovers over your mind and can turn even the best day sour. Sometimes the sun can dissipate the cloud in a few days and other times the cloud can last the entirety of a human’s life.
The storm affects everything you do even if you don’t see it happening. It depletes your social energy, stymies your professional growth and erodes your physical health. You can try to use an umbrella, but a small fix won’t protect you.
Releasing yourself from the wrath of the behemoth above you takes time and effort. The sun can’t just show up a couple of times a week to try and break through the clouds. It needs to show up every day and so do you as a human.
You must know every part of the cloud and where it came from to be able to work through it. Don’t be afraid to sort through the mess of tragedy, loss and misguided perception. The cloud is formed of past events and it’s good to the past just as it is. The past.
